GdS: Milan now most likely to postpone signing of new defender until January

It seemed certain that AC Milan would at least welcome a new defender between now and the end of the window, but perhaps that is no longer the case.

Thursday night’s dramatic penalty shootout win over Rio Ave earned Milan an extra chunk of guaranteed revenue as they secured their place in the Europa League groups stages.

As Friday’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports however, it is no longer certain that Milan will buy a new central defender between now and Monday, the day the market closes:.

The paper explains how at the moment the most likely solution is in fact that the Rossoneri wait until January to reinforce their rearguard.

Head coach Stefano Pioli will therefore have to be satisfied with the return to the field after the break with a defensive department of Simon Kjaer, Matteo Gabbia, Alessio Romagnoli and Leo Duarte – the latter two currently out.
