GdS: Milan optimistic about renewal of star midfielder after initial talks amid Arsenal interest

AC Milan are optimistic that they will find an agreement with Franck Kessie over the renewal of his contract, according to a report.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive) writes that the first negotiations between Milan and Kessie’s entourage for his renewal have begun, with some figures floated. The Rossoneri management are willing to pay €4m net per season which would be a substantial pay rise, but the Ivorian’s agent George Atangana asks for €5m plus bonuses which would take it closer to €6m.

The situation seems to be less serious than those concerning Donnarumma and Calhanoglu, who are set to leave the club for free, but there is no shortage of suitors interested in Kessie. Nonetheless, Milan appear optimistic about reaching an agreement.

It must be remembered too that with Donnarumma and Calhanoglu now gone, the Rossoneri have €8.5m net off the books which could be reinvested in part to raise the salary of those who most deserve it. La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) recently reported that Arsenal are among the teams interested.
