GdS: Milan to pocket over €30m as Atalanta and Bologna make decision on loanees

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are set to net over €30m from the sales of two players this summer as Charles De Ketelaere and Alexis Saelemaekers should both leave permanently, it is claimed.

According to what is being reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below), Atalanta and Bologna both intend to exercise their buy-out options at the end of the loan spell for De Ketelaere and Saelemaekers.

The playmaker would cost Atalanta €22m while the winger will cost Bologna €9.5m, which means a total of €31.5m for Milan. Both clubs are very satisfied with the outputs of the players and will most probably keep them, even if an absolute final decision has not been made yet.

Saelemaekers was allowed to leave Milan last summer because of the arrivals of Christian Pulisic and Samuel Chukwueze for the right wing role, and he has repaid Bologna’s faith by scoring three goals and adding two assists in 25 Serie A games under Thiago Motta.

De Ketelaere meanwhile departed after a very difficult first season with the Rossoneri but he has been revitalised under Gian Piero Gasperini at Atalanta, racking up seven goals and six assists in 29 league games. He recently hinted at a desire to stay beyond the summer.

  1. Ironicly Salamakers is better this year as a LW then our back up LW Okafor for who we spent 15mil when we could have just kept Sale. Our scouting team is a disaster…

      1. Lol i was expecting this type of shallow comments. Just cause someone scored more doesn’t mean he is better. You would have known what i’m talking about if you in fact watched Bologna play. Almost everything goes thru Salamakers, he is the starter of everything. But nevermind Okafor scored two more tapins or rebound goals so he must be better lol. How did Okafor performed when he was given chances on the LW this year ? Exactly.

        1. its not shallow. its on point. Okafor is asub and does more than salad does as a starter.. but what do i know

yall need to stop overrating saladmaker

          1. What more does he does when he is just thrown as a striker in the box to catch rebounds ? Almost everyone can do that, especialy in a team like Milan. You are bound to score something in that kind of position. Every time when he was tasked with something more than that he did nothing. Unlike Salamakers who become crucial player for Bologna. But people thinking that only who score the goal matters is exactly what shallow thinking is.

          2. the way i see it if okafor was playing for bologna right now he’d have around 10 goals and a handfull of assists. but that is just a what if. meanwhile salad, meh im not even gonna bother with him..

        2. That’s not shallow. That’s factual. The man barely plays but takes every opportunity to score. That’s a palpable quantification.

          Alexis’ contributions are 3G 3A.
          OK4: 6G 1A;
          Facts.

The rest is just smoke and opinion.

          1. If you are only taking goal contribution thats literally what shallow is. You are only looking at whats on the surface. You can say that Okafor is better than Tomori too cause he has more goals but that isn’t telling the full story. There is a reason why Okafor is not getting more minutes, every time when he was given playing time as a LW he did nothing. Basicly him an Jovic are just thrown in the box as extra strikers when Milan need to throw bodies in the box. And yes sometimes the ball will get to him in those situations and he will score same as Jovic or anyone else who would have been given that position. He isn’t doing anything special. Its pointless if you haven’t watched Salamakers this year and his contribution to Bologna. He doesn’t have a higher rating then Okafor for nothing.

    1. Saelemakers this season in serie A 1603 minutes, 3 goals, 2 assists.
      Okafor 722 minutes, 6 goals, 1 assists.
More goals contributions for our back up left wing even though he played almost a 1000 minutes less than Saelemaekers who according to no one but you, has been better this season.
People just write anything in here.

      1. Lol, Okafor season rating 6.4, Salamakers rating 6.8, i guess it’s not just me but a lot more people who actually understand that football is not just tapin goals.

    2. To be fair saelemaekers was always one of my favourite players while he played there even though he was far from our best player he would ALWAYS work his socks off and also seemed like a funny fella adding something to the dressing room. He also showcased some brilliance towards the end of last season before weirdly getting benched, When that is said i do believe that okafor has done great with the minutes he has played and i woulld say even surpass saelemaekers as well.
I nevertheless miss the fella here and in one aspect he did surpass okafor and most players in the club and that was in work effort and also helped stabilize the team considering we have an ultra offensive left side with theo and leao who doesnt always defend very well.

      1. This year under Motta he is a lot better than what we have seen here. He still works hard but it seems his shooting, passing and vision has improved a lot as well. He is dictating the game and even takes free kicks now. Watch Roma – Bologna higlights you will see even if he doesn’t score or assists he still is involved in all the goals… As for Okafor he is not doing too bad but Salamakers is doing better this year for sure as a LW. Basicly we could have saved 15mil and just switched Sale from RW to LW since he is right footed any way. I don’t know maybe Motta just knows how to get the best from his players, maybe if he stayed here he would have been the same player as we know.

  2. A difference in managers…. Someone who can pull the best out of the individual and not strangle them by playing them out of position, leaving them on the bench or giving them misleading tactical orders.

  3. Both players are already worth more than they are paying to buy them. Bad business from Milan. But hey at least we have Chuk, Musah, RLC, Reijnders, Pellegrino, and Okafor who are all legendary players… none have world class potential but hey 1 person mentioned does and that’s cdk who we let go. Well done RedTurd
