GdS: ‘At all costs’ – Milan push for Pavlovic as possible meeting point emerges

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are continuing to push ahead with their attempts to sign Strahinja Pavlovic from Red Bull Salzburg and the feeling is that an agreement is not far off.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport report, the priority for Paulo Fonseca and the management was to get in a new centre-forward – a box ticked by Alvaro Morata – and then to address a defensive department that let in 69 goals last season.

At 194cm tall and 85kg, they feel that Pavlovic has the power and solidity to restore strength to a fragile defence. Milan and Salzburg must shake hands too though, and the offer is €18m but the demands remain a bit higher.

There is already an agreement on the salary: five years at €1.5m net per season. The distance between Milan and Salzburg can instead be bridged if the clubs agree to meet halfway at €20m, with a separate negotiation on the bonuses.

The contacts of the last few weeks have already brought the parties closer because RB Salzburg had started with an initial request of €30m. Pavlovic communicated to his current club his desire to be sold to Milan, just like Youssouf Fofana and Lazar Samardzic have.

The Serbian would come full circle in a way given that he was close to Lazio and Napoli before, so he has had Italy on his mind. In addition to that, the paper adds that Pavlovic’s arrival does not force a sale in the department, but it means offers for players like Malick Thiaw can be evaluated more calmly.

  1. I’m honestly hoping Newcastle sign thiaw because they’re willing to give 30-40m while kiwior who said he wants Milan is a little less than that and he’s much better so win win for us
