GdS: Milan player ratings for Dortmund loss – winger shines; trio given 4.5

By Oliver Fisher -

Disaster struck for AC Milan at home against Borussia Dortmund as they lost 3-1 to leave their Champions League last 16 hopes hanging by a thread.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below) has their ratings from the game, starting with the overall team performance and Stefano Pioli’s score, both of which earned a 5 out of 10.

The goalscorer Samuel Chukwueze was the best Milan player on the pitch as he got a 6.5, while Davide Calabria was among several to struggle and got the joint-lowest mark of 4.5 but was picked out as the flop.

Mike Maignan also got a 4.5 for some questionable goalkeeping, particularly for Dortmund’s third goal. Malick Thiaw and Fikayo Tomori each received a 6.5 but were let down by their full-backs, as Theo Hernandez was given a 5.

Yacine Adli got a rare start and was given a 6 while Tijjani Reijnders struggled to be effective in the game and got a 5.5. Ruben Loftus-Cheek also wasn’t up to the level we saw against PSG, so he was given a 5.

Christian Pulisic failed to hurt his former club, receiving a mark of 5.5, while Olivier Giroud is the third player to get a 4.5 as he missed an early penalty and it all went downhill from there.

Rade Krunic (5.5) was brought on at centre-back and was unable to contribute to stopping BVB from scoring, but Luka Jovic (6.5) did pose a threat.
