GdS: Milan player ratings from defeat to Porto – nine players draw criticism

By Oliver Fisher -

There were only a few Milan players who escaped criticism from the papers this morning after an abject performance in the 1-0 defeat to Porto.

The Rossoneri never got going as the home side were better in every department and closed the gap between themselves and Atletico Madrid to one point thanks to Luis Diaz’s winner in the 65th minute.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) also has their player ratings in for last night’s game. Starting with the positives, centre-back duo Simon Kjaer and Fikayo Tomori each got a score of 6.5 out of 10, while Davide Calabria, Alexis Saelemaekers and Rafael Leao all got a 6.

Half a point less was given to Ciprian Tatarusanu, Sandro Tonali, Ismael Bennacer, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alessio Romagnoli. The lowest scores (5) were given to Fode Ballo-Touré who made ‘many errors’, Rade Krunic who found himself ‘in difficulty’, Olivier Giroud who is ‘not familiar with the Rossoneri’s schemes yet’ and Pierre Kalulu.

  1. It is always the players who are criticized. Is it their fault that Milan had no plan how to attack ? Why is it that so often the players had the ball but did not know what to do with it ?
