GdS: Milan player ratings for Rennes loss – mixed reviews after difficult night

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan booked their place in the last 16 of the Europa League despite losing the second leg of their play-off tie against Stade Rennais, as they ended up with a 5-3 aggregate victory.

Milan had a 3-0 lead from the first leg, but Bourigeaud’s hat-trick gave Rennes a 3-2 victory at Roazhon Park, though the Rossoneri equalised twice on the night to mean the comeback never really got close.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below) has their ratings from the game, starting with the overall team performance and Stefano Pioli’s management of the game which both earned a score of 5 out of 10.

The best player on the field for Milan was Theo Hernandez who got a 6.5 for setting up the first goal, while Yunus Musah struggled and was given a score of 5.

Rafael Leao and Luka Jovic were the goal scorers on the night and they were given a 6.5 as a result, even if both didn’t contribute too much outside of that.

Mike Maignan, Ismael Bennacer, Matteo Gabbia, Tijjani Reijnders and the substitute Ruben Loftus-Cheek were all awarded scores of 6.

Simon Kjaer (who gave away a penalty), Christian Pulisic and Alessandro Florenzi scored 5.5, while Noah Okafor and Samuel Chukwueze each got a 5 off the bench.
