AC Milan’s priority remains and has always been to renew Gianluigi Donnarumma’s contract, but a potential replacement has been chosen.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), the management do not want and cannot be caught unprepared in the event that the negotiations for the extension were to break down completely and therefore they are looking around to find alternatives.
It seems that Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan is at the top of the list at the moment and the 25-year-old has a valuation that is around €17-18m. For now, Milan have limited themselves to probing the ground, and they have not started any negotiations because they do not want to lose Donnarumma.
At the same time, the club will not go beyond the offer of €8m net per season which was offered several weeks ago. In addition to Maignan, the Rossoneri also admire two goalkeepers who already play in Serie A: Pierluigi Gollini from Atalanta and Juan Musso from Udinese.
