GdS. Milan player ratings for Bologna win – CDK praised; Messias fails again

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan comfortably beat Bologna by two goals to nil last night and were rightfully praised by the media afterwards. There were a few standout performances, including that of Charles De Ketelaere who made his first start.

The Rossoneri got back to winning ways after the 1-1 draw against Atalanta and they did it in great fashion. De Ketelaere combined with Rafael Leao for the first goal and the Portuguese winger then delivered the assist for Olivier Giroud’s goal.

Today’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport took stock of the individual performances of Milan and De Ketelaere was given the MOTM award. He was given the same rating as Leao, 7.5, but slightly edged the winger with his impressive performance.

Pierre Kalulu and Olivier Giroud were just behind the duo at 7, while the likes of Ismael Bennacer and Sandro Tonali were rated at 6.5. The midfield duo did really well to control the game and keep Bologna at bay.

Mike Maignan, Davide Calabria, Fikayo Tomori, Theo Hernandez, Junior Messias, Tommaso Pobega, Alexis Saelemaekers and Yacine Adli all passed the test at 6/10. However, Messias was named the worst player for Milan as his impact was almost non-existent.

  1. Junior again , already 2 match flop but still starter. Can we get ziyech on loan to replace him? Or if cannot just change formation to 4321 or 4312 without using RW

    1. Pioli said he use almost 2 forward and open winger (whatever that means) during match against Bologna.

      Formation on paper is obsolete.

      1. “Formation on paper is obsolete”, absolutely correct, maybe on defense more defined ,but when we are on offense player positioning is much more fluid.

    1. Ale was 100x better than Messias yesterday and should be a starter on Tuesday. Messias has provided NOTHING to the table in the first 3 matches.

    2. I would rather see him come off the bench, plays with way more energy, offensively he seems to be improving….off the bench.

  2. If it wasn’t for his goal, Giroud would have been a 5 – fails to hold up the ball and his work rate is poor – De Katelaere brings composure and presence to the attack – looking forward to seeing him again on Tuesday

  3. Yes we need a RW and yes for the reported fee of 10M this should be a no-brainer to get Zyiech as neither Messias nor Sales is a starter. Sales off the bench when we have a lead is the perfect spot for him. CDK and Adli are not RW. Shame this position is being ignored. Bring in Zyiech and get that last mid – Onana and we are done.

    1. CDK would be fine at RW if we had Rebic at the 10, we do not need grace and finesse there ,we need muscle and defense when opposition counter attacks.

  4. I am a bit curious about Leao’s play… I think his play is sometimes too casual! As for CDK, he can only get better…. Is vision is superb…
If Milan are going to be competitive on all fronts this season, there is need to get a good right winger and a midfielder.

    1. ” I think his play is sometimes too casual” agree, especially if we are ahead, and he gets his pocket picked with the ball. , just gives up, Rebic and Saele, just the opposite when ball is stolen from them, they are embarassed and dog their opponent until they get the ball back or a yellow card.

  5. Tonali can’t get a bad rating no matter how bad he plays. Guy did nothing the entire game except a few turnovers and dumb fouls. 6.5
