GdS: Milan player ratings for Empoli win – Defensive duo praised; two flops

By Isak Möller -

It wasn’t a spectacular performance by AC Milan last night, but they claimed all three points and that’s all that matters right now. Having said that, the defensive efforts of the Rossoneri shouldn’t be underestimated.

In today’s paper, Gazzetta Dello Sport (via SempreMilan) took stock of the performance of each Milan player and unsurprisingly, Pierre Kalulu was deemed as the MOTM with a rating of 7/10. He was fantastic in defence and, as we know, he scored the winner.

Along with Mike Maignan, the youngster was the only player to get a 7/10. The likes of Fikayo Tomori, Alessandro Florenzi and Alexis Saelemaekers also did well and were rated at 6.5. The Belgian came off the bench and was a good resource as Milan saw out their lead.

Meanwhile, Davide Calabria, Ismael Bennacer, Sandro Tonali, Brahim Diaz, Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud passed at 6. Two players that disappointed were Franck Kessie and Junior Messias, with the latter deemed as the worst (both got a 5.5).
