GdS: Milan player ratings for Empoli draw – Origi and Rebic struggle

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan failed to come away with all three points from their clash against Empoli last night. Although they defended well, the strikers failed to impress and above all Divock Origi.

After the 4-0 win against Napoli, many were expected a good performance against Empoli and in many ways we got to see that. However, the Rossoneri lacked the final touch in the attack and that really hurt them.

Today’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport (see photo below) have taken stock of the performances. The best, just like we wrote in our ratings, was Sandro Tonali as he made several interceptions and was everywhere last night. He got a 6.5/10.

The likes of Mike Maignan, Malick Thiaw, Fikayo Tomori, Tommaso Pobega, Alexis Saelemaekers, Brahim Diaz, Alessandro Florenzi, Rafael Leao and Olivier Giroud all passed the test at 6/10.

Davide Calabria got a 5.5 as he did some things well but also had his flaws. Ismael Bennacer, meanwhile, got just a 5 as he was too invisible in the modified No.10 role, it was a step back compared to his Napoli display.

Finally, Ante Rebic got a 4.5 as he missed a big opportunity in the first half. Divock Origi was the worst at 4 and he was rightfully booed by the fans, not creating anything and failing to get on the end of the crosses.
