GdS: Milan player ratings from Lazio win – nobody below a 6 as forward group dominate

By Oliver Fisher -

There was not a single AC Milan player who drew criticism from La Gazzetta dello Sport after the 4-0 rout of Lazio at San Siro in the Coppa Italia quarter-final.

The paper have published their player ratings this morning, giving Rafael Leao the title of man of the match for the Rossoneri with his electrifying display during which he scored once and set one up for Olivier Giroud, while head coach Stefano Pioli got the same score for a solid tactical approach.

Going through the starting XI, Mike Maignan got a 6 as he did not have much to do at all against a Lazio attack that never clicked, while Davide Calabria got the same. Centre-backs Pierre Kalulu (6.5) and Alessio Romagnoli (7) were praised for keeping the visitors quiet, while Theo Hernandez got the same as Kalulu as he registered an assist.

Sandro Tonali pulled the strings in midfield and got a 7 but was booked so will be suspended for the first leg of the semi-final against Inter. Franck Kessie got a 6.5 as he netted the fourth goal and looked more comfortable deeper, while Junior Messias got that mark as did the subs Ismael Bennacer and Alexis Saelemaekers.

Rounding off the positive notes were Brahim Diaz (7) who looked full of confidence once again and Olivier Giroud (7.5) who made it four goals in four days and back-to-back braces. Finally, Ante Rebic got a 6 for being a bit wasteful and rusty off the bench, but he got into the right areas.
