GdS: Milan player ratings from Napoli win – nine players get 7 or more

A number of AC Milan players were worthy of praise for their performances during the 1-0 win away against Napoli, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

In their player ratings (via MilanLive) they gave Olivier Giroud the title of man of the match and a rating of 7.5 because – after a decisive brace in the derby – he scored a crucial goal goal again to down Luciano Spalletti’s team.

The same score went to Ismael Bennacer and Rafael Leao as the Algerian midfielder was almost perfect in the middle of the park and even came close to scoring, while the winger beat his man often and tasted Ospina.

The starting back four all got a 7 as Davide Calabria did well to keep his compatriot Lorenzo Insigne quiet, while Pierre Kalulu and Fikayo Tomori face a difficult opponent in Victor Osimhen but did well, and Theo Hernandez was good at both ends.

Sandro Tonali returned after being suspended for the Coppa Italia derby and got a 7 for a lively and competent effort, while Franck Kessie also got a 7 as he neutralised Fabian Ruiz.

Substitutes Ante Rebic and Rade Krunic got a 6.5 as they came on and did well in the second half, adding some much needed energy, but Alessandro Florenzi, Junior Messias and Alexis Saelemaekers all got a 6 with the latter in particular missing a huge chance to kill the game.
