GdS: Milan reach agreement over Lille star as a precaution – the figures and details

By Isak Möller -

Gigio Donnarumma’s contract will expire in the summer and although Milan want to keep him, and are still holding out hope, they also have an alternative. They have even reached an agreement, a report claims.

Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara don’t want to be caught unprepared come June and thus have made some moves on the market. According to Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews), they have reached an agreement with Lille star Mike Maignan.

They have ‘blocked’ the player, as the newspaper describes it, with a five-year deal on the table for the goalkeeper, most likely worth around €3m per year. Maignan’s current contract will expire in 2022 and this facilitates the deal, of course.

As for the transfer fee, Milan have excellent relations with Lille and a deal could be secured at just €18m, which isn’t a lot given the player’s quality. A total agreement doesn’t look hard to reach but having said that, it will depend on Donnarumma.
