GdS: Milan ready new offer for Valencia star in bid to complete ‘European’ midfield

AC Milan are pushing to complete the signing of another midfielder after Tijjani Reijnders, a report claims, with Yunus Musah seemingly the chosen man.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) writes that Milan are looking for another midfield addition and another USA international to join after Christian Pulisic, with Musah having the added bonus of an Italian passport.

Musah is seen as an ideal candidate for the ‘European’ midfield Milan are aiming to build because he has physicality, aggression and good ball progressing ability, as is customary in the Champions League.

There is a marketability aspect to it too, because Milan have the highest number of fans in the States among any Serie A team and the signing of another USA international can help bring them closer to the team.

There is a network of synergies created between Gerry Cardinale such as with New Era and the MLB franchise the New York Yankees, while there are 15 Milan clubs across Canada and the United States.

Of course the on-field impact is the main thing though, and after the sale of Sandro Tonali for €70m plus bonuses Pioli wants a third midfielder to rebuild the department after Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Reijnders.

Musah has already gained high-level experience playing as a starter in LaLiga and because he can play multiple roles, such as mezzala in a three-man midfield and in the double pivot in a 4-2-3-1.

The Rossoneri and the player have reached an agreement in principle over a contract worth €2m net per season. However, a deal with Valencia has not yet been struck, because the Spaniards would like €25m while Milan were aiming to close for €15m.

An acceleration is needed, and that’s what will happen in these days as Milan will present a better offer, closer to €20m (perhaps around €18m) and will wait for a response from Spain.

  1. Musah-Reijnders-Loftus Cheek would be a very dynamic and physical midfield. Then once Bennacer is back we got 4 solid players for those 3 positions with most of them able to play anywhere in that midfield, so they can switch positions at will. Wont matter much if we play 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1. They fit in both. Then Pobega and Krunic as backups. I like it

      1. Krunic is always the backup
        he is backup everywhere
he is the definition of a backup
if backup definition is made today, it will be called Krunic, or Krunic move

    1. That is not a midfield trio.
They all “run” with the ball, nobody “dictates” the play among all three of them.

    2. You guys are gonna fall flat on your face. 3 totally new players to start from the getgo?! Ok
Btw Krunic is starting, not sure you realize.. he’s the only one that knows Pioli’s systems

  2. I wonder if it wouldnt be a better idea to just get Kessie back for that money.. Hes proven and only 26. Better that than having seeing him in the prison white and black of the merde.
ofc he’d need to take a paycut 😀

          1. Oh yes. Anothet guy who thinks he knows the exact budget and thinks he knows more than management. Wanting a player that is damaged goods back at Milan… lol.

You’re the one without any sense.

    1. After what he do tricking previous management maldini with false hope renew contract, i dont think new management want to buy him back consider his attitude toward club. He betray deal with Roma after agreed term just because fassone offer him 500k salary higher than Roma, he and his agent forcing atalanta sell him to AC Milan after he and atalanta agree deal with Roma . For commission 10m euro from barca ,he tricked maldini and walk away free transfer to barca. With that attitude toward club ,nobody in management consider bring him back . Not even pioli .

    2. 14m.oer season gross is what Barca is paying him. I doubt he’d leave that. But I’d welcome him back no problem. Him coming back guarantees top 4 and a shot at the title

  3. Kessie over Musah… yeah and this guy wants to talk about a grain of sense. Lmao. I’m laughing hard right now. So hard. Kessie is a shadow of himself and will not recover. He isn’t coming back to Milan ever.

    1. Man.. Whoever would pick a kid like Musah over Kessie has no bussines talking about football at all..
I think i remember you know.. youre one of the dudes who has no clue about this sport arent you? So many of you around here i cant keep track… and always full BS

      1. Lol you want a has been back at Milan. You’re the one without a clue. Kessie is gone. He isn’t ever coming back. Get pass your ridiculous favoritism. Oh and Musah has plenty of experience despite being young.

        1. I want Milan to be strong and to win.. Sure this Musah has exp. 5000 min in laliga at almost 21 isnt bad.. Kessie was better at that age tho…
          Now fok off

          1. Kessie wasn’t better at that point in time. You’re out of your mind for wanting to turn the clock back. You’re not wanting Milan to win anything.

        2. Don’t think Kessie is a good fit if Pioli is going with 3 man midfield. Kessie didn’t look that good in 3 man midfield under Montella and Gattuso, but when Pioli put him in double pivot he was a beast

          1. Didnt look good? Dude scored 5 goals under montella and had a log like biglia by his side.. under Gattuso he scored 7 goals, i remember that season well because bakayoko was a beast in the mid that year.. and Milan played somewhat better than the years before. He can play mezzala just fine in fact thats his base function imao

          2. its true. some of them were penalties.. but he did a lot more than just take penalties. He was always among Milans best mids from his first season till his last.. Fact.
Maybe most of you forgot that, i havent.
Traitor or not his quality as a player is not to be dissmised with a wave of the hand

          3. I like Kessie, but It’s a fact that he looked a lot better and a lot more comfortable in double pivot, with less responsibilities and only focusing on being a defensive midfielder than as a box to box midfielder.
Barca plays with a 3man midfield and he barely played there this season

          4. he didnt play at barca because they dont use players of his type. Never did. They only got him so they can sell him after a year, which is what they’re doing. What Milan should have done with kamada.
And at Milan he wasnt just the DM. He made runs into the box all the time. Furthermore if they would to sign Ke$$ie there would be no need to go to 433. Starting mid would be Reijnders, Ke$$ie and Pulisic on AM

  4. Who is kessie fock him wherever he is we can’t allow someone who betrayed us and come back to us again he can play for our rivals or roma, juv, naples, lazio fock him our midfield for this season 23/24 are all better than him including pobega (Krunich, Bennacer, RLC, Tijjani Reijdners, Yunus Musah and may be Dominguez)

  5. Great move by these guys. A step in the right direction, and a decisive one too. Taremi should be in this week too, with the way things are going on the Chukwueze front. Maybe, they will settle for Isaksen on the right wing. So far, so far good. The team is slowly taking a new shape for next season. Kudos.
