GdS: Milan could sell midfielder for €50m to fund two operations – the situation

Ismael Bennacer continues to attract interest from Saudi Arabia and his sale could finance two new additions, according to a report.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) talks about how Bennacer is no longer sure of a spot in the starting line-up. The use of Yacine Adli as a starter in Vienna in the first friendly was perhaps an indication in this sense.

Fonseca wants a physical and dynamic midfielder like Fofana because he would provide coverage and ensure that his team-mates will be freer to move around him, looking for spaces to make runs and to create.

It feels like Tijjani Reijnders is certain to stay and Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s best position is as a mezzala, so the signing of Fofana and Lazar Samardzic could be covered by the possible sale of Bennacer. Saudi clubs are keen on the former Empoli man, and his €50m clause is not a problem to them.

With that amount the Rossoneri management would have enough to bring in Fofana and Samardzic with potentially some change left over too. In doing so, they would add a shield for the defence and someone who can play as a mezzala or as a playmaker, diversifying the solutions available.
