GdS: Milan have strong interest in Ouédraogo but Schalke refuse meeting

AC Milan seem bewitched by the talent of Assan Ouédraogo but they face strong competition to land him, according to a report.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) confirms the report that came out from Sky a couple of days ago claiming that Milan are very keen on Ouédraogo and want to meet Schalke 04 to discuss a future deal.

In the summer of 2022 Geoffrey Moncada pushed hard for Malick Thiaw who was signed by Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara, and then last summer he went for Yunus Musah and Marco Pellegrino who are both also deemed young talents.

The plan is to keep investing in talent that has a high ceiling, with Ouédraogo a case in point. Schalke were relegated to the German second tier and the 17-year-old became a starter over the summer.

He scored in his first appearance of the season and earned the coach’s trust. Hechelmann, Schalke’s sporting director, yesterday let the world know that he had no great intention of meeting Milan to talk about the sale of Ouédraogo.

In Ouédraogo’s contract there is a clause, which will apply in the summer of 2024, varies according to the size of the purchasing club and can reach €20m.

However, there is competition to sign the teenager as his father and brother were seen in Leipzig while talking to Red Bull directors.

Milan will try but must understand the cost of Ouédraogo, who should play in the U17 World Cup in Indonesia in November, a real showcase.
