GdS: Milan the best team in all of Europe for away form – a record is up for grabs vs. Atalanta

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s remarkable away form in 2020-21 suggests that they should have no fear going into Sunday’s huge match against Atalanta.

A report from La Gazzetta dello Sport highlights that away form is extra weapon that Milan is relying on once again in view of one of the most important games in their recent history. They must keep faith because Stefano Pioli’s men have racked up 46 points away from home compared to a miserable 30 at home, with 7 more points accrued on the road than Inter and Atalanta plus 9 more than Napoli.

Indeed, no better tally can be found in England, Spain, Germany and France. The Diavolo – with their 46 points and 41 goals scored on the road – excels everywhere. They have been better than English champions Manchester City (45 and 38), Lille (43 and 34), Real Madrid (42 and 34) and PSG (39 and 40).

A victory in Bergamo would mean win number 16 in a single season, which would be absolute record in the history of Serie A (the current record of 15 belongs to Inter 2006-07 and to Milan, who have equaled him for now). Winning at the Gewiss Stadium seems like a mountain to climb, but there is enough to inspire.
