GdS: Milan try to pour cold water on Rangnick rumours – “He has a 1% chance of arriving”

By Oliver Fisher -

Ralf Rangnick has a ‘1% chance’ of joining AC Milan at the end of the season, or at least that’s the official line coming out of Casa Milan, a report claims.

There is plenty of speculation in the media at present – both in Italy and in Europe – that Rangnick is set to take up a role as both head coach and sporting director at Milan in June, something Zvonimir Boban seemed to confirm in his two recent interviews.

However, an interesting twist has arrived from La Gazetta dello Sport (via MilanLive). They claim that they have a director quote from Casa Milan on Rangnick, which is as follows: “He has a 1% chance of arriving.”

In fact, as reported by the newspaper, there has been a slowdown by Milan regarding the situation, however it is still expected to be a stalling tactic in order to try and avoid even more uncertainty as the team looks to end the season in the best way possible under Stefano Pioli.

The internal crisis, as we saw against Genoa on Sunday, is beginning to seep into performances. The tensions and destabilising voices have ended up compromising Pioli’s excellent work and the peace that the group had found.

Interestingly, president Paolo Scaroni – interviewed by il Corriere della Sera – also spoke about Rangnick.

“I don’t know Rangnick, if there have been contacts, they are very preliminary. I believe that one account is the contacts, that everyone is entitled to have, another the contracts: I assure you that I have not seen a contract hypothesis,” he said.
