GdS: Milan willing to overlook wage cap to keep three important players

By Isak Möller -

In the summer, we can expect some changes at AC Milan. With Ralf Rangnick in pole position to replace Stefano Pioli, the Rossoneri are ready to start the youth revolution that CEO Ivan Gazidis is keen on.

As reported by Gazzetta Dello Sport (via Milanlive.it) this morning, the Rossoneri are ready to overlook the wage cap – which most likely will be around €2.5m – to lock down three very important players.

These are Gigio Donnarumma, Alessio Romagnoli and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The latter’s contract will expire in the summer and thus has to be dealt with as soon as possible. However, the renewal will not only depend on the money.

The Swede wants to know the club’s ambition, per the report, asking for reassurance on the new project. Therefore, a meeting will take place with Gazidis to resolve any doubts that may exist.

As for the other two, the situation is different. Both are asking for a pay rise and it remains to be seen if the Rossoneri can satisfy them, although they are at least willing to go above the wage cap.
