AC Milan have got a major advantage over the likes of Bayern Munich and Premier League teams when it comes to trying to sign Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee this summer, a report claims.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Pianeta Milan), the Dutch striker is still one of Milan’s primary targets for the summer transfer window as they seek a new striker, and they may have an easier job convincing him to join than other clubs would.
This is because Zirkzee is keen to actually remain in Italy this summer, rather than take what is seen to be a very risky jump to the Premier League at the age of 22.
Bayern Munich are in the frame and have some financial advantages thanks to their deal to sell him to Bologna in the first place like the €40m buy-back clause, but with Harry Kane at the club, there is less scope for minutes with the Bavarian side compared to Milan.
Olivier Giroud is out of contract this summer, as is Luke Jovic, although his future is more unsure. Whilst both could find themselves with new deals before the season is over, there is a position to claim there and Zirkzee has been scoring plenty of goals for the Rossoblu.

I think it’s more about the prem being notorious for making, or in this case, breaking careers when players are in the most critical period of their sporting life. Unfortunately what comes with the large wages is the need to deliver immediately or risk being completely frozen out of the team, like at Chelsea or Utd. That of course can happen in serie a but the premier League has seen many players simply get forgotten and lose confidence.
Yes this does happen. The style of defending — and refereeing — is quite different as well. In comparison to La Liga or Serie A, PL referees allow goon defenders to really manhandle skillful attackers and not get whistled for the foul, nor yellow carded for repeated infringement. That strongly affects how skillful finesse players succeed–or not–in the PL.

As a matter of fact, Jovic was much better at Frankfurt than Zirk is in Bologna now. Not Saying Jovic is better than Zirk now, but it is important to say that big expectations lead to big disappointments. Big purchases don’t always solve problems, but they always empty your bank account…
