GdS: Significant milestone up for grabs for Pioli in Napoli vs. Milan clash

By Isak Möller -

Stefano Pioli has always been very clear that he doesn’t focus too much on the numbers, more specifically personal successes. However, on Tuesday evening, he could reach a significant one as AC Milan will face Napoli.

Milan managed to win the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final 1-0 and will thus be heading into Tuesday’s clash with a slight advantage. Should they succeed, it would be the first time reaching the semi-final in 16 years.

However, as highlighted by Gazzetta Dello Sport, there is another perhaps more interesting milestone up for grabs. Pioli could, in fact, claim his 100th win with the Rossoneri after 178 games. The current record, after 177 games, is as follows: 99 wins, 42 draws and 36 defeats (with 322 goals scored and 203 conceded).

This makes for an average points per game of 1.92, which is rather high. In addition to the aforementioned stat, Pioli will also equal Max Allegri for the number of games in charge of Milan (178), eight place on that specific list. Obviously, he will leapfrog the current Juventus manager with Milan-Lecce at the weekend.
