GdS: Morata is ‘Mr. X’ – three-year deal ready for Spanish striker

Whilst Zlatan Ibrahimovic may have tried to be mysterious about who the next big striker target is for AC Milan, it is no secret that Mr. X is Alvaro Morata.

As highlighted by La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below), it does not take much deduction to know that when Ibrahimovic said ‘we have an idea for the attack, we hope it can be realised as quickly as possible. I won’t say the name, but there is a Mr. X that we are aiming for’, he meant Morata.

Whilst the day was supposed to be about the unveiling of Paulo Fonseca as coach and the start of the season’s preparations, the transfer market became the main focus.

It had already become clear that Joshua Zirkzee would not be joining given the increased efforts of Manchester United, but Ibrahimovic’s comments confirmed that Milan are no longer trying to make that deal work.

The hope is that Morata will be the perfect profile of striker for Fonseca, with the Portuguese coach saying: “The striker we want must play in the final 30 metres and be able to do so without space.”

Morata is available for just €13m thanks to his release clause and he has been in fine form recently for both Atletico Madrid and Spain.
