GdS: Musah, Chukwueze, Morata and more – the latest on Milan’s ongoing negotiations

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan have been one of the busiest clubs in Serie A so far during this transfer window with Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Luka Romero and Marco Sportiello all arriving.

That is certainly not where things are expected to end for the Rossoneri and La Gazzetta dello Sport has provided an update on where the Rossoneri stand with each major target.

Tijjani Reijnders: The AZ Alkmaar midfielder wants the move and so does Stefano Pioli, with personal terms already having been agreed. A first bid was sent to Dutch side of €16 million but AZ want nearer €25m.

Yunus Musah: Valencia need to sell Musah and Milan have already agreed on personal terms with the American. The La Liga side want €25m for him but Milan will try to lower the price.

Christian Pulisic: The American winger really wants to sign for Milan and personal terms are not an issue. Milan made one bid of €14m but Chelsea want nearer €20m. The gap is expected to close very soon.

Samuel Chukwueze: The Nigerian is a seriously talented winger that Villarreal are expecting to sell this summer. His arrival would not rule Pulisic out and Chukwueze wants to move to Italy, but an agreement must be found on price.

Alvaro Morata: Seemingly Pioli’s favoured choice for a striker, there is confusion around what format Milan would use to sign Morata. The offer from Saudi Arabia also presents another hurdle.

Gianluca Scamacca: Another serious forward target, the Italian striker is looking for a way back to Serie A although AS Roma may be his preferred choice. Milan would like to include Divock Origi in the deal but it remains to be seen if West Ham have any interest in the Belgian.

    1. I heard that the priority for RW is Pulisic and Chuk is just an alternative option if Pulisic can’t be signed… 🤔

      1. Either one is an upgrade over Messias (Saladman or Florenzi). On our current situation, I’ll take it

  1. Another CM, Pulisic and Scamacca and then we should be done.

That’s 5 new signings – nearly a quarter of the squad (if the squad was a normal size).

The key then is to get the squad size down to 23 and tighten up.

The aim should be a core of 16-17 with the balance made up of experience and youth. Gabbia, Bresciani, Maldini and Colombo can provide the perfect back up, and they might just have futures as professional footballers. Otherwise they’ll be loaned to death.

  2. good to know that Pioli stamped this decisions, would be in poor taste to hear excuses should anything go wrong with these players..lack of form, adapting to a new style of play, etc.
    lets see the magic!

    1. What bothers me the most is that Pioli is supposed to be a coach fit for young players but he clearly has hard on for old geezers…

      1. I mean, only one of those players is over 24 and that’s Morata who is 7 years younger than our current CF

I know 24 is no spring chicken in footballing terms, but they’re players with a lot of miles left on their clocks.

    1. You don’t want the Yonghong Li disaster by getting too many new guys in or have you forgotten about the disasters we had by spending €200 million in one transfer window?

  3. Closing Reijnders and Pulisic should be priority as they are tried and tested, Chukwueze could be good, but every Villarreal move we made has backfired in the past, see Musacchio and Samu, after that try for Scamacca, he knows Serie A, and he will take the backup role to Giroud, a striker he can learn from. Musah Kan be turned into the next Kessie, he has all the right attributes to do the job. If we get those done we should be good. Our squad will be much deeper than it has in years. Another benefit is getting Colombo back, The Hulk can develop into a real talent for us with the right nurturing hand, his strength and presence reminds me a lot of a young Vieri, and seeing as we are in serious need of International strikers it would be good to develop him in our backyard. Once our most skilled midfielder in Bennacer is back we’ll be a real force to be reckoned with. Let’s hope Benna can stay healthy for the next few seasons as players like Pulisic who people call injury prone have played more games than him in the past 3 seasons.
