GdS: Negotiations over Romagnoli’s renewal begin well as the player opens to idea of stay

AC Milan may have a chance of keeping Alessio Romagnoli after all as talks over his renewal have started well, according to one journalist.

Speaking on Carlo Pellegatti’s YouTube channel (via MilanNews), Carlo Laudisa of La Gazzetta dello Sport gave an update on the renewal of Romagnoli and begins by confirming that the management are now starting to focus on the renewal of the centre-back’s deal which expires next June.

Until now there had been silence about this negotiation because last year the player had lost his spot in the starting line-up, so his time at Milan seemed destined to come to an end with his agent Mino Raiola in agreement, but in the last few days a dialogue has begun about the player’s stay at Milan.

He has a high salary that with bonuses reaches over €5m net per season and Milan are unlikely to keep him at the same amount, but the turning point has come both thanks to a rapprochement with Raiola but also thanks to the player.

The Milan captain has become aware that playing in a more competitive team – even if not a starter but with stimulating commitments it – could be more interesting than going to play elsewhere.
