GdS: New formation and Locatelli regret – why Milan have decided to keep hold of Pobega

AC Milan are now likely to keep midfielder Tommaso Pobega and include him in the midfield rotations as a versatility option, according to a report.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive) confirms that the Rossoneri are now leaning towards keeping Pobega for next season. Milan know they cannot make the same mistakes as they with Manuel Locatelli and Matteo Pessina and therefore want to keep the young talent.

Atalanta are interested in signing Pobega but the offers from Bergamo will be returned to the sender, with the management and Stefano Pioli all in agreement that he could come in handy in a number of roles.

Pobega is back after an excellent season at Spezia and it is worth noting that he can play both as a central midfielder and as an attacking midfielder. With Bennacer and Kessie’s commitments in the Africa Cup of Nations early next year, he will certainly find playing time.

Possible changes in formation are also mentioned as Pioli could work on a 4-3-3 in addition to the usual 4-2-3-1 that he prefers to use.
