GdS: New Milan owner Cardinale meets Pioli for the first time – what was said

By Oliver Fisher -

Gerry Cardinale has spoken with AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli after his group RedBird Capital completed their acquisition of the club.

As reported by today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via SempreMilan.it), a good feeling has already been born between Cardinale – the new owner of AC Milan – and Pioli. The two had a first cordial and friendly exchange of ideas during the official unveiling of the American as the new owner.

They spoke with the promise to speak again soon to lay down Milan’s technical plan for the 2022-23 season and beyond, which of course includes the transfer market and the players that can be targeted to strengthen the squad.

In the meeting, Cardinale wanted to reaffirm his total trust in Stefano Pioli, underlining how – as an outsider – he assessed the work of the coach to be extraordinary, also praising his gentlemanly attitude towards the team which cultivated a winning environment.

  1. Cardinall exchange football idea with Pioli? I doubt that Mr. Cardinal watch more than 5 football matches in his life. He should leave that kind of talk to Pioli, Maldini and Masara. He better find money for new players.
