Newcastle United have taken an active interest in AC Milan’s central defenders this summer, and it seems they could be able to get a discount on their target due to some key decisions being made by the Rossoneri.
When Newcastle first approached Milan, it was regarding the possibility of a move for Fikayo Tomori, but their attempts were quickly rejected. Instead of returning to the table to discuss the same matter, they shifted their focus to Malick Thiaw, and their interest is rising.
Yesterday, it was reported that no official offer had arrived from the Magpies, but that does not discredit their interest, and it could be a good thing for the interested party, as a report has claimed they could get a discount on the German defender.
As reported by Gazzetta dello Sport earlier today (see image below), with Emerson Royal being considered once again, it would see Pierre Kalulu return to the central defensive ranks, rather than being thought of as a right-back.
This could then lower the price for Thiaw to leave, with the Diavolo needing a right-back, rather than another central defender, which would have been the case if Kalulu was shifted out wide – it was reported that a move for Emerson will cost €5 million more than Milan’s first offer, so a discount may be offered to guarantee a sale.
Management is wise. We should sacrifice thiaw to give fans royal gift.

No, but if you sell Thiaw it opens other market opportunitites, one of which would have to be to replace Thiaw himself.
It’s wiser from a business perspective to buy cheap players if you don’t have the money. Don’t try to bid on a Ferrari with pennies, it looks stupid
please stop with this Emerson nonsense, get Kiwior instead and let Kalulu play RB. If Calabria has another bad season, get Kayode and that’s done.

If selling Thiaw means Kalulu will be his replacer I think I’d rather keep Thiaw. Neither of them are reliable as CBs but Thiaw has his moments as CB unlike Kalulu who is like a headless chicken 24/7. As a RB Kalulu might be decent but it’s a “H3CK NO!!” to him as a CB.
I’d still take Hummels over either of these any day.
1. Wasn’t a headless chicken in the Scudetto year. SO you know what he is capable of.
2. Successive Injuries haven’t done him any favors. Kalulu needs a season under his belt w/o injuries.
3. Hummels is old and slow and expensive and can’t play the sort of high line Fonseca intends to play.
I’m with you keeping Thiaw. Kalulu back at RB, rather than buying Royal. It’s just plain stupid buying Royal and sacrifice Thiaw.
Kinda stretching a bit far calling Kalulu headless chicken playing as CB. I mean him and Tomori did it well together. Just keep them (CB’s) out of MilanLab

Kalulu – scudetto winner. super aggressive. pairs well with Tomorri for speed and intelligence. Short tho, so a liability in the air.
Thiaw – lots of potential. Tall. extremely mistake prone the moment he has to cover one on one. Tends to sit back. Doesn’t seem to have the intelligence we’d want in a CB.
The scudetto winning Kalulu isn’t the Kalulu of nowadays. He had one good season… No scratch that. He had 12 good matches at the end of the season and that’s it. His positioning and awareness has been absolutely awful after the scudetto. It’s like he has been replaced by his awful twin or something.
Thiaw with lots of potential. Well, maybe. But so far he has shown zero signs of ever fulfilling his potential.
And I wonder about this talk about his potential too… Is it because he made those two blocks in his debut match? Because he really hasn’t shown much besides those blocks. The amount of mistakes he makes is unbearable on this level.
Rather keep Thiaw and move Kalulu to RB

I don’t claim to know why those players were allowed to leave on a free, but I do know it was a mistake and a significant one.

It’s not that Milan don’t have the money. It’s that Milan don’t have the money to be profitable and sign these targets. The new owners want to make money where Inter & Juve’s owners want to win and will go deep into debt to do so.
Elliott was better than anyone expected them to be, but they never wanted to run a football club, so they took the first decent bid they got. The hilariously sad part is that M&M were the only reason it was working, but the only reason anyone buys a club is for their own vanity. So Cardinale fired them and is now turning Milan into a shitty Ajax.
If losing Thiaw means we’re going for Royal, then that’s a bad deal. Would rather keep Thiaw and play Kalulu at RB. If we need a RB solution other than Calabria we already have one in Kalulu, who is better than Royal(heck, I’d play Thiaw at RB over royal) and has the potential to be even bettwith some stability at RB.
But tbh, I didn’t believe the stories that suggested Kalulu would play RB, sounded good and would be in the best interests of the team. Here’s a plan for Management; forget Royal (or any other RB) , shift Kalulu right, keep Thiaw (don’t think we’ll get any decent replacement with what Management keeps on offering), sign Pavlovic.
Then you have Calabria, Kalulu (RB) ; Tomori, Pav, Gabbia, Thiaw (CB), Theo, Teracciano (LB). Don’t need Royal
Or option 2, of the money is needed badly, sell Thiaw. Keep Kalulu as CB, Teracciano plays with Calabria at RB, Jimenez and Bartesaghi deputise for Theo. Don’t need Royal.
Sh*t we could even move Calabria on (no fully in support personally), play Teracciano and Jimenez at RB, Theo and Bart at LB. STILLLLL don’t need Royal
