GdS: One key selection doubt for Pioli to resolve ahead of Juventus game with relay possible

By Oliver Fisher -

There is one real doubt for Stefano Pioli to resolve ahead of Sunday’s game against Juventus, and once again it concerns the striker department.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews), it will be established either today or tomorrow whether Zlatan Ibrahimovic will recover for Sunday night’s match, but the chances of seeing him on the pitch are low, so now Pioli is essentially left picking between Olivier Giroud and Ante Rebic as the centre-forward.

At the moment the Frenchman seems to have a slight advantage, even though the Croatian is one of the most fit players as he was not called up for his national team and has just delivered two excellent performances against Lazio (two assists) and Liverpool (a goal).

The paper claims that Rebic left the field at Anfield very tired so his energy levels must be established, but Giroud obviously cannot be 100% yet either as he missed around 10 days of training due to Covid, so it is likely that there will be a relay between the two.

Meanwhile, Pietro Pellegri is getting close to top condition and the 20-year-old could be a useful weapon in Turin in the last minutes in case of need.
