GdS: Pavlovic communicates desire to join Milan with price tag set – the latest

By Isak Möller -

Strahinja Pavlovic has communicated his desire to join AC Milan this summer to RB Salzburg, who are now gearing up for a sale. According to today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport, the negotiations are indeed very advanced.

After seemingly abandoning the right-back pursuit, with Pierre Kalulu likely to play there this upcoming season, Milan has focused a lot on signing a centre-back. Talks have been ongoing with Pavlovic’s entourage and agreement seems to be getting closer.

According to the pink newspaper (see photo below), Pavlovic has told RB Salzburg that he wants to be sold and would like to join Milan this summer. A contract worth €1.5m per year, compared to his current salary of €700k, is ready and the player is eager to make it happen.

Milan are more optimistic than ever, having received ‘an assist’ from the player, and negotiations with Salzburg will now continue. The initial price tag was €30m but given the lack of offers from the Premier League and Saudi Arabia, the Austrian side have been forced to reconsider.

The Rossoneri have already made it known that they are willing to raise their offer, though without exaggerating. As such, it’s believed that the deal could close at around €20m including a couple of million in bonuses.

  1. Lack of offers from Premier League are not a good sign. I hope Pavlovic is what we need and he will fullfil our expectations .

    1. Lack of offers from PL not a good sign? I don’t agree. A lot of PL clubs overpaid players, who some of them just 1 season wonder. Imo, only some clubs such as Man City and Arsenal that I find have relatively (compared to other PL clubs) good scouting system.
And also, last year Ballo Toure and Origi gained interest and offers from PL clubs, ending up joining them. And we know their quality.

    2. It’s not about who he is, it’s the fact we already have CBs and don’t need another one.

Signing a CB would disrupt the one area in the pitch that should be left alone.

We are about 50 games off having a settled CB pairing even after the past few seasons where Tomori has had games alongside Kalulu, Thiaw and Gabbia.

We now need to pick one of those pairings, hope we avoid injuries, and hope we can get to an establishing pairings.

Signing another CB now will just create more confusion. Whoever we do sign could well end up failing for no reason other than he can’t get settled.

And then I’ll be making excuses for a player I didn’t want in the first place…

      1. You were whining how singing another ST would disrupt the attackers. Now you’re whining how signing a CB would disrupt defenders.

I’m starting to think our players are delicate little flowers. Should we have them train indoors so a little wind won’t disrupt thier sensitive little bodies? Cthulhu forbid they see 2 much sun. And only water fresh from the alp springs for them…

        1. I don’t understand where the whining is. We only lost Giroud. If we bring in another attacker, we’d be filling one spot with two.
In terms of defence we currently have about 6 centre backs for 2 spots. Thiaw, Tomori, Gabbia, Pellegrino, Kalulu and Simic as the emergency CB. Last year we had too many CBs. Yes we were undone by an extreme injury crisis but really Kjaer wasn’t missed for playing time. Now granted one or two of those guys (Pellegrino and Simic) may leave so I do understand getting another CB. But as of now the point does stand 🤷‍♂️.
We also have close to 30 players if not more…we do need to trim at some point

          1. Simic is gonna go to Anderlecht if I’m not wrong.
Pellegrino is probably gonna be loaned again, no one seemed to be impressed by him and I don’t understand why we went for him.
Apparently Kalulu will be favoured as a RB rather than a CB.
So that leaves Tomori, Gabbia and Thiaw (who had a horrible season). I don’t think a fourth CB is that bad IMO.
I do agree though that we should definetly trim the squad, we do have too many players.

          2. Whining heir was whining a day or two ago how we don’t need to sign Abraham or the German or anyone because we have enough strikers and if we bring more it will disrupt the team..

          3. Also, we have 32 players atm. 9 of them are gonna he sold or loaned out. That leaves benny, adli and pobega as the trading options.

The players are Florenzi, Simic (already done), pelegrino (deal already set up), maldini, chaka, salad, romero, colombo and nasti (deal already set up).

        2. @flyingturtle but the part about an additional striker makes sense. We only lost Giroud, another one complicates things. Giroud has about 3000 minutes, Morata 3300. Thats sufficient. U want ot break up into two 1500 minute blocks? That’s not sufficient for a striker to have proper form 🤷‍♂️

@Giga I agree. But I did not that two of the CBs might leave so I do get the need for another one. But currently as it stands we’re ok in that sense. I wouldn’t get more than one though. And this is hoping we solve our injury issues because that really affected players game time and form. 4 certified starters are perfect with a youth product as the 5th.

          1. I don’t care either way.wmWe get a 3rd ST. More competition. We don’t get a 3rd ST, Someone else will get more minutes (probably okafor), maybe camawunderkiddo.

It definitely isn’t a disruption if one more comes in tho.

      2. “Signing a CB would disrupt the one area in the pitch that should be left alone.”
The problem is, during the last season that specific area of the pitch was kind of alone.
We already lost Kjaer (unfortunately) and Simic (also unfortunately) and Kalulu is probably gonna mostly be used as a RB anyways. All of the remaining CBs (Tomori, Gabbia and Thiaw) blew hot and cold at some point during the last 3 seasons, so a fourth CB won’t be a bad idea IMO.

  2. “Signing a CB would disrupt the one area in the pitch that should be left alone.”

We’ve already lost the steadiest CB from last season so the things were already in motion. Pavlovic will improve our defense.

  3. Signing a CB is a good idea, cause the Milan team is building to mature and tactical defence with good experience. What do you think?
