GdS: Pioli assessing formation change to fix emergency ahead of Juve-Milan

By Isak Möller -

By the looks of it, the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final between Juventus and AC Milan will take place two weeks from now. For Stefano Pioli, who has to deal with three heavy absentees, a new plan is needed.

The first leg ended 1-1 after the Bianconeri equalised from the penalty spot in the dying minutes of the game. In addition to conceding late, Theo Hernandez was sent off while Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Samu Castillejo were booked.

As a result, all three will miss the second leg, although Ibrahimovic is injured now anyway. According to Gazzetta Dello Sport (via Milanlive.it), therefore, Pioli could switch from the 4-2-3-1 formation to a 4-3-3.

It’s almost certain that Ante Rebic and Rafael Leao will play from the first minute, being the only strikers in the squad. In a 4-3-3, the Croatian would play on the left, but a 4-4-2 with the duo up front shouldn’t be excluded per the newspaper.
