GdS: Pioli calls Thuram ‘multiple times’ as Milan expect decision on Monday

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan are on the hunt for a new striker ahead of next season and Marcus Thuram has ended up at the top of the wish list. His contract will expire at the end of the month and the Rossoneri are working on it.

According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, the free transfer is certainly a big factor but in terms of his playing style, Milan appreciate the Frenchman for his 1v1 strength, explosiveness and pace. He’s not a bomber (fierce goalscorer) but fits the profile, in other words.

Stefano Pioli has already spoken with Thuram to explain Milan’s project, stating that he will at least be a co-starter with Olivier Giroud. His main position will be centre-forward but he can also play on the wing if needed.

Indeed, as Bianchin stated in his tweet (author of Gazzetta article), Pioli has called Thuram ‘multiple times’ over the last few days. Milan are keen on closing the deal and a final decision is expected from the player on Monday.

  1. Nice approach…
Call him an tell him “you ‘ll be co-starter”, so don’t go to PSG with your best friend Kilian and triple the money we’re offering…

Wtf, is Pioli dense or has 0 manipulating skills?

    1. You dont know how its really went but it would actually be very bad to lie on that level. Never do this as it will in the end ruin your reputation among players.

    2. It would be an easily exposed lie if Pioli say he will start ahead of Giroud. Even in French NT, he is behind Giroud and Kolo Muani.

    3. Hahahahahahaha! I know what will seal the deal, a phone call from Georgio Furlani!!! I can see it now:

      Thuram: hello. Who dis?
      Furlani: it’s Georgio

Thuram: Georgio? Georgio who? Armani? Clooney?
Furlani: no. Georgio Furlani, CEO of AC Milan.

Thuram: Oh. Never heard of you before. Whats up?
Furlani: we want you to come to AC Milan

Thuram: great. How much will you pay me?
Furlani: well here is the thing. We practice a “money ball”approach and we have a limited budget and a wage cap policy.

Thuram: I don’t know what that means but how much money is in this money ball for me? PSG is offering me 6M/season.
Furlani: well we can offer you 3M max cause you know we must keep our wage cap in place.

      Thuram: Goodbye Mr. Clooney
