GdS: Pioli finally able to choose between Bennacer and Tonali – both are finding their rhythm

By Oliver Fisher -

There is still a chance that Stefano Pioli could field Sandro Tonali from the first minute against Juventus, according to a report.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport writes (via MilanNews), Pioli still has a few days to think about it, but the positive thing for Milan is that the head coach now has a wealth of options to choose from in midfield, options he didn’t have in the reverse fixture when Calabria had to play in the double pivot.

Both Bennacer and Tonali have had their struggles though: the Algerian has had several injuries, while the former Brescia star took a while to settle in and to adapt to a two-man midfield. Pioli has alternated them so far but rarely was he really able to actually choose between the two.

The paper adds that Bennacer is not yet in top form and fasting from Ramadan is not helping him, but he is slowly regaining his best condition and his recovery comes in the decisive moment of the season.

Meanwhile, there have always been great expectations towards Tonali who has begun to shine after an initial period of acclimatisation which is natural when going from a relegated side to a big club. He too, like Bennacer, will be fundamental in this season finale.
