GdS: ‘Pioli rejects Jovic’ – decision made on attacking trident to face Fiorentina

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli seems to have made his decision regarding who will start in Olivier Giroud’s place on Saturday against Fiorentina, according to a report.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below) reports that Noah Okafor will get the nod to take Giroud’s spot when La Viola come to the San Siro this weekend, given that the Frenchman is disqualified for two games in the league and thus his mind is all on Borussia and the Champions League.

While there is a lot of attention on who will be Milan’s centre-forward for the future, there is a dilemma to solve now and it looks as though Pioli has decided to send Luka Jovic to the bench, a player who is not only without a goal since joining but doesn’t even have a shot on target yet.

The attack for the game on Saturday will be as follows: Samuel Chukwueze on the right, Okafor in the middle and Christian Pulisic on the left. Pioli will have his first real collective training session towards Fiorentina today but the line has been drawn.

Jovic will sit on the bench, ready to come on against his former club. And next to him, given the simultaneous absence of Rafael Leao and Giroud, could be Francesco Camarda from the Primavera but there is no definitive answer on this yet.

  1. Since Okafor is injured, I’m hoping Camarda starts. It doesn’t matter if it’s reckless to start a 15 year old as we already know Jovic will fail. With Camarda, there’s a fair chance he will struggle but at least there’s a chance he will do well. That’s more than we have otherwise.

  2. Some people are talking rubbish in another page. those people are talking as if they KNEW camarda’s future. all those legend that we know is because they where giving chance. You like it or not camarda is the future of MILAN and the NATIONAL TEAM.
