GdS: Pioli keeping an eye on Primavera defender who continues to grow

By Oliver Fisher -

Stefano Pioli is keeping an eye on the development of defender Andrei Coubis who continues to impress for Milan Primavera, a report claims.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) recall that Coubis was chosen as captain of the Rossoneri’s youth team which will be led by new head coach Ignazio Abate as they hope to have a more successful campaign after seasons of struggle.

Coubis put in a really good performance on Tuesday afternoon in Grödig,Austria, as Milan drew 1-1 with Red Bull Salzburg in their first game in Group E of the 2022-23 UEFA Youth League. It was regarded as a positive result given Salzburg reached the final last season, losing to Benfica.

Coubis is capable of playing both as a right-back and as a central defender, and his start to the season has been very positive after he impressed at the preseason retreat with the senior team in Austria.

He scored a goal from a penalty after 10 minutes against Salzburg and almost got a brace with a free kick, but more importantly he pulled off several defensive interventions and showed personality.

  1. I thought Michelis was quite impressive pre-season and think he’s a big loss for us but I also trust Maldini esp wet defenders so there’s that
