GdS: Pioli retains squad harmony despite Calabria, Leao and Giroud incidents

By Oliver Fisher -

There has been some speculation that some of the harmony inside the AC Milan dressing room might have evaporated, at least based on recent incidents involving three players.

There was a misunderstanding between Davide Calabria and Stefano Pioli after the PSG game which required a conversation between the two to clarify things, while Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leao made it very clear during the 2-2 draw with Napoli how they felt about being taken off.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) the management of the squad has never been and even now is not a problem for Pioli. There were moments of tension between Paris and Naples, from Calabria’s words at the Parc des Princes to the reactions of Leao and Giroud after coming off, but everything came back quickly, let’s say in the space of a plane trip.

However, one thing is certain: Pioli, in those post-match moments, was not the only one who didn’t like it. As instinctive as they were, the club didn’t like certain statements either, and the team got the message. To take off, this Milan will have to be united.
