GdS: Pioli unlikely to field Theo Hernandez from the start against Torino

By Oliver Fisher -

The good news arrived yesterday that Theo Hernandez is no longer Covid-positive, but it seems a start against Torino remains unlikely at the moment.

On their official website yesterday morning, Milan confirmed that the left-back has tested negative for Covid-19. In other words, he should be called up for the game against Torino on Tuesday evening, but there are doubts about how much of a role he will play.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanLive) writes how it cannot be ruled out that Stefano Pioli will choose to keep the Frenchman on the bench for the game against the Granata given that he has missed training with the rest of the squad while isolating since the week before last.

That is why Fode Ballo-Touré should get the nod from minute one, especially given that against Bologna he showed greater confidence than his first few appearances. Of course, Theo could come off the bench as an impact substitute but Pioli has an eye on Sunday evening against Roma and on next Wednesday night’s game against Porto, which is do or die in the Champions League group.
