GdS: Pobega becomes a Doctor from today – his thesis included Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

Tommaso Pobega is not just making progress at AC Milan as his studied have led him to achieve something quite impressive away from football.

Today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via SempreMilan.it) report that Pobega is graduating in Business Economics and Commerce today and will thus officially become Doctor Tommaso Pobega.

As per the paper, the midfielder actually did a thesis on AC Milan and more specifically the club’s social responsibility, a chapter of which is entirely dedicated to the Milan Foundation, which very recently celebrated its 20th anniversary.

It was reported a few months ago that Pobega was just a couple of exams away from getting his degree, one that he undertook online given his busy schedule with Milan’s many commitments.

Now he has ticked off another life milestone after graduating from the Rossoneri’s youth sector and now establishing himself as a member of the first team squad.

  1. Getting a degree doesn’t make you a doctor. You earn a doctorate by getting a PhD, at 23 it’s highly unlikely he’s got a doctorate, especially as he got his degree in September. Getting a doctorate takes 4-6 years.

    1. This is usually a major source of confusion. If you get a masters degree in Italy you get the title “dottore” which roughly translates as “doctor”.

  2. It’s interesting as I have from friends in Europe who did their bachelor’s degree and were called doctors (specifically in Italy). And I was like ummmm no. Lol. Congrats anyhow to Pobega
