With a final training session to come before the game against Lazio, Ruben Amorim is beginning to make some selection decisions.
It is all set to be a fascinating battle at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday night. Milan have taken seven points out of nine to begin the campaign, while Lazio have won all three of their games and sit joint-top with Inter and city rivals Roma.

Two bits of good news that came from Milanello during the week. Mario Gila – who came off with knee discomfort in the Juventus game – trained regularly and is fine to face his former club. Matteo Gabbia has also shaken off an ankle issue and should be fine to be named in the squad.
Lazio vs. AC Milan: Predicted starting XIs
According to this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Amorim will stick with the three-man defence of Mario Gila, Koni De Winter and Strahinja Pavlovic ahead of the goalkeeper and captain Mike Maignan.
The four across the midfield from right to left should be Samuel Chukwueze, Ardon Jashari, Yunus Musah and Pervis Estupinan. Then, Adrien Rabiot and the returning Alphadjo Cisse should operate behind Goncalo Ramos.
Amorim will have a strong bench to call upon, featuring the likes of Diego Moreira, Luka Modric, Alexis Saelemaekers, Christian Pulisic, Omari Hutchinson and Francesco Camarda. The latter three are hoping for their first minutes of 2026-27.

It’s embarrassing that Milan have spent so much money, and we are still relying on players like Musah & Estupinian. They are midtable players who have lucked their way into our team…
Especially because it means Rabiot har to play out of position, as his best qualities are not being utilized as a number 10.
I want to support Amorin, but keeping Rabiot as a 10 reminds le if how stubborn he could be at United. Everyone could see when players weren’t be deployed to their strengths, but he did’t care.
Also, Moreira may not be ready yet offensively, but showed ik his debut that he is a solid defender, and way more reliable like that then Estupinian – who literally gets bullied by every other Serie A player!!!
I do not understand people like you. Without Ramos (74M) we would have no striker (except Gimenez and Camarda). Without Gila (30M), we would be stuck with Tomori. Without Moreira (60M) we would have had to bank everything on Chuk alone, which is crazy. That’s already 164M spent on key positions. What do you expect, an entire Man City Career Mode like overhaul in one summer? That would indeed have been crazy.
You say we are “still stuck” with the likes of Musah and Estu as if we have spent no money and brought in a bunch of nobodies. Give this project some time. Musah and Estu will not last forever, but evidently, the coach did not think they were the most urgent to replace. And he trains with them. He knows. And for what it’s worth: all the (social) media slander of Musah and Estu is crazy anyway. They are not high-level players, no, but just re-watch the games until present and you will see that they are working their behinds off and are actually executing their task really well. Yet somehow, for some fans who do not actually watch the games, they are always the easiest to target.

Rabiot is our only world class player, and we are not utilizing him at his best position. That is ridiculous. Our midfielders need to be that much better individually when we have only two people there… and one of them is Musah. We spend upwards of 60 million for a wingback who can’t replace freaking Estupinian.
There are som serious cracks in the armour for me with this project. Without Cisse, the attack would be dead.
Unless Amorim has some secret plan involving Pulisic, I would be worried. Rabiot that far up the field is criminal
Cisse has scored 2 goals – the first was good the second stupid lucky nutmeg through a full block – thats an OWN GOAL right there – other than that he [plays like a 19 year old out of his element – no creativity no assists feeding Ramos – even with Cisse we HAVE NO OFFENCE – why isnt puli and salad starting this is so weird – and RABIOT MODRIC is beast mid yet we play musah – im so confused we are mid table lineup at moment
It’s the beginning of the season. Injuries and new arrivals still have to be managed before certain guys can play 90 mins. So until everyone is available this is what is required.
There is also Europe coming up so rotation is necessary.
I’m confident after a few more weeks you’ll start seeing Cisse, Pulisic and Hutchinson as the primary CAM combos with Rabiot being used more in midfield.

our performances have been mid table caliber in all 3 games – we def should have lost to Juve except a lucky nutmeg by the 19 yo the mid table performance aligns with playing all the mid table players and leaving all the $players on the bench – great project so far eh ?

I’m content with Starting 11 outside of Estupinan.
How this man continues to actively participate in lazy, boneheaded decisions in pivotal moments, and be allowed to do it again and again is beyond my comprehension. He looks solid until a play breaks down defensively late in match and is forced to show discipline and intelligence. Then he attempts to beat a player to spot, falls, leaving an empty space for defense to be in an even worse impossible position.
He should be a deep bench emergency start against the likes of Bologna, Parma, Monza, Venezia, Genoa, and Fiorentina. In other words, when we start playing 3 matches a week and need spot starters against bottom half of Table.

Musah is a very good midfielder, considering his marking, helping in defense and also pushing forward when needed, Musah will keep getting better game by game and if I can continue like this in the next 6months he will be better than many of the defensive midfielders in the world. Caicedo isn’t a better player than Musah if he can be fully concentrated
Estu has been decent this season but more it’s just has to come in he would add a whole new dimension with his pace and dribbling and directness from that side that we are sorely missing.
Put Rabiot in place Estupinian ,play with 2 AM( Pulisic- Hutchinson or cisse.
