GdS: Primavera captain Coubis shines and eyes promotion to Milan’s first team

By Isak Möller -

Andrei Coubis is the captain of AC Milan’s Primavera side and he has impressed a lot lately, eyeing a future move to the first team. Indeed, Stefano Pioli was impressed with what he saw during the pre-season.

The Romanian-born defender scored the only goal for Milan’s Primavera side in the 1-1 draw against RB Salzburg earlier this week. It was with a great penalty as it went off the inside of the post and in.

As highlighted by Gazzetta Dello Sport, Coubis initially struggled to assert himself at Milan but a switch to centre-back from right-back did wonders for him. Now, he has the captain’s armband and no one is close to taking that away from him.

Pioli brought him along to the training camp in Austria this summer and the first impression was very positive. Ignazio Abate, the Primavera manager, knows he has a great talent to manage and it’s his job to get him to the first team as ready as possible.

Because the first team might not be that far away for the 18-year-old, who will turn 19 later this month.
