GdS: From Simic to Bartesaghi – Primavera stars looking to impress in the USA

By Oliver Fisher -

The preseason tour of the USA is not just a chance for AC Milan’s new signings to impress in front of the big crowds, but also some Primavera stars too.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport reports, Lapo Nava, Chaka Traoré, Kevin Zeroli, Jan-Carlo Simic and Davide Bartesaghi are part of the squad that has flown out for the games against Real Madrid, Juventus and Barcelona.

Lapo Nava: In January 2022, Nava went viral among Milan social media circles after he was called up for a game against Roma due to a goalkeeping emergency and then caught the tram home afterwards.

In his last year with Ignazio Abate’s Primavera side, he made 28 appearances, also being a big part of the reason that the Rossoneri got to the semi-finals of the Youth League.

David Bartesaghi: Bartesaghi is a left-back with great physique and intelligence, and an excellent shot too. At Milanello he closely observes Theo Hernandez, master of the role, and the American tour will be a good opportunity to add notes.

The first photo published on his Instagram profile dates back to last summer and the Telekom Cup win over FC Köln with other senior starts, with the caption: “You never forget the first time.” In the last season in the Primavera he put together 25 appearances.

Jan-Carlo Simic: At the age of 10 he was given the best prospectus award at the end of a tournament in Kirchheim. First signs of talent, and then he came through Stuttgart youth team.

Simic arrived in the Primavera last year, as captain of the U17s at Stuttgart. He is a defender who is good at marking and in build-up, having made 36 appearances with two goals and two assists last season.

Kevin Zeroli: He made 37 appearances for Abate’s side last season and scored the winning goal against FC Rukh Lviv to earn progress to the final four of the Youth League.

Zeroli is an all-action midfielder with an imposing physique, and in the 7-0 friendly win against Lumezzane he did well in the minutes he got, scoring a header to round off the scoring. Zeroli is also a boyhood Milan fan too.

Chaka Traore: For him, it’s a little different. Traoré renewed his contract with Milan a few days ago, binding himself to the Rossoneri until 30 June 2028, and the feeling is that he is the most ready.

The Ivorian will not be in the Primavera squad for next season, so Stefano Pioli’s assessments during the American tour will weigh on him and on his future, with a loan spell possible. Last year he was one of the flagships of the Primavera, with 30 appearances, 8 goals and 6 assists.
