GdS: Probable starting XIs for Inter vs. Milan – Conte’s choices forced; Leao to get the nod

By Oliver Fisher -

Like AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli, Inter head coach Antonio Conte will have a lot of his team selection forced due to the number of players out.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Conte will be without a number of players in midfield and defender as Radja Nainggolan, Milan Skriniar, Roberto Gagliardini, Alessandro Bastoni, Andrei Radu and Ashley Young have tested positive for Coronavirus.

The back three will therefore be makeshift as Danilo D’Ambrosio, Stefan De Vrij and Kolarov. The midfield will include Marcelo Brozovic, Arturo Vidal and Nicolo Barella. Perisic and Hakimi will be the left and right wing-backs respectively, while Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez will be up front.

For Milan meanwhile, Donnarumma will be protected by a back four of Calabria, Kjaer, Romagnoli and Theo Hernandez from right to left, with Bennacer and Kessie ahead. Saelemaekers, Calhanoglu and Leao are expected to be the trio acting behind Ibrahimovic.

Probable Inter XI (3-5-2): Handanovic; D’Ambrosio, De Vrij, Kolarov; Hakimi, Barella, Brozovic, Vidal, Perisic; Lukaku, Martinez.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): G. Donnarumma; Calabria, Kjaer, Romagnoli, Hernandez; Bennacer, Kessie; Saelemaekers, Calhanoglu, Leao; Ibrahimovic.
