GdS: Probable XIs for Milan vs. Atalanta – battle of the 3-4-3 systems

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is likely to stick with the three-man defence for tonight’s game against Atalanta, thus matching up the opponent.

According to this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below), Pioli is expected to welcome Mike Maignan in goal after over five months out, with Pierre Kalulu, Malick Thiaw and Fikayo Tomori as the three-man defence.

Junior Messias and Theo Hernandez are tipped to be the right and left wing-backs respectively, with the two-man midfield composed of Rade Krunic and Sandro Tonali given that Ismael Bennacer is still injured.

In attack, Brahim Diaz and Rafael Leao should be on the right and left respectively, supporting the centre-forward Olivier Giroud who will lead the line again.

Probable Milan XI (3-4-3): Maignan; Kalulu, Thiaw, Tomori; Messias, Tonali, Krunic, Hernandez; Diaz, Giroud, Leao.

Probable Atalanta XI (3-4-3): Musso; Toloi, Palomino, Scalvini; Zappacosta, De Roon, Koopmeiners, Maehle; Lookman, Hojlund, Boga.
