GdS: Probable XIs for Milan vs. Bologna – Pioli settles on choices

AC Milan take on Bologna at San Siro tonight looking to make it five wins in a row in Serie A and continue to put pressure on Juventus and Inter above them.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below) has the team news ahead of the game at 20:45 CET, starting with the absentees. Fikayo Tomori, Pierre Kalulu and Malick Thiaw will be out for some time, as will Tommaso Pobega and Mattia Caldara.

While Ismael Bennacer is back in Italy after Algeria got knocked out of the African Cup of Nations he will also be out with an adductor problem. Samuel Chukwueze is still there with Nigeria as they topped their group.

The paper claims that Olivier Giroud will lead the line with Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Rafael Leao as the trident behind him from right to left in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Tijjani Reijnders and Yacine Adli will once again be handed the keys to the control room in the double pivot, playing ahead of a four-man defence.

That rearguard is down as being Davide Calabria, Simon Kjaer, Matteo Gabbia and Theo Hernandez, who will protect Mike Maignan between the sticks.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Kjaer, Gabbia, Hernandez; Reijnders, Adli; Pulisic, Loftus-Cheek, Leao; Giroud.

Probable Bologna XI (4-2-3-1): Skorupski; De Silvestri, Beukema, Calafiori, Kristiansen; Freuler, Moro; Orsolini, Ferguson, Saelemaekers; Zirkzee.
