GdS: Probable XIs for Milan vs. Inter – Saelemaekers on the left wing

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli and his opposite number from Inter Simone Inzaghi are resolving the last few selection doubts in view of tomorrow’s meeting at San Siro.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below), Pioli is likely to stick with a 4-2-3-1 system that sees Mike Maignan in goal with Davide Calabria, Simon Kjaer, Fikayo Tomori and Theo Hernandez as the back four.

The central midfield trio of Rade Krunic, Sandro Tonali and Ismael Bennacer should be fielded again after it worked so well against Napoli in the quarter-final, with the Algerian slightly ahead of the other two.

In attack there is a big question mark over Rafael Leao’s fitness and thus Brahim Diaz and Alexis Saelemaekers are down as the right and left wingers respectively, with Olivier Giroud the centre-forward.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Kjaer, Tomori, Theo Hernandez; Tonali, Krunic; Brahim Diaz, Bennacer, Saelemaekers; Giroud.

Probable Inter XI (3-5-2): Onana; Darmian, Acerbi, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Brozovic, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Dzeko, Martinez.

  1. Inzaghi knows how to break Milan defense. Since we play a high line usually with 1-1 marking, he use Lautaro/Dzeko/Lukaku to hold the ball with defender pressing and let the wingers and midfielders to make the run through our defense and then a tricky pass to them. I think its better we sit deep like we did against Napoli.
