GdS: Probable XIs for Sampdoria vs. Milan – five changes expected from Salzburg

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will take to the field on Saturday night against Sampdoria looking for their first away win of the season, with head coach Stefano Pioli respected to make changes.

According to what is being reported by this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Pioli will make a change in the defence as Simon Kjaer should come in for Pierre Kalulu to partner Fikayo Tomori at centre-back.

There will be a change in midfield too as Tommaso Pobega is expected to get another start under is belt, giving Ismael Bennacer the opportunity to catch his breath.

Three changes are anticipated in attack compared to the game against Red Bull Salzburg, with Junior Messias, Brahim Diaz and Divock Origi tipped to come in for Alexis Saelemaekers, Charles De Ketelaere and Olivier Giroud respectively.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Kjaer, Tomori, Theo Hernandez; Tonali, Pobega; Messias, Diaz, Leao; Origi.

Probable Sampdoria XI (4-3-1-2): Audero; Bereszynski, Ferrari, Colley, Augello; Gabbiadini, Rincon, Djuricic; Sabiri; Quagliarella, Caputo.

  1. Hoping its a fast start get some goals in early then rest Leao, Theo, Tonali, and Tomori. They need to be in top form for UCL.

I also want to see Adli come in quite early on

  2. The only problem here is Diaz, this dude should not be playing for Milan again, not when we already an owned player in Adli…..whether he score or not, this dude days are over, you can not flop in over 25 matches as a loan player and still play.

For pobega, I will prefer we play vrancxx and let tonali do benaceer job

  3. 4321 would have been okay for this match which would allow tonali/vrancx/bakayoko/pobega/thiaw (any 3) have a go at it as they all thrive in a 3-man midfield rather than the 2-man defensive style milan plays , this defensive style allows only tonal and bennacer paly well, also depending on how thiaw plays, you could later in the match rest tomori while he falls back, the 2-men behind the lone striker can then be diaz/messias/adli ( any 2), this would allow ample rest for leao too, other changes during the match – ballo for theo, gabbia for kjaer, dest for calabria can also allow enough rest while origi/giroud/any striker from the academy can play especially if we are lucky enough to get good results early in the game, i pray we win always

  4. We are constantly talking about Maldini’s inability to sign an actual RW for 3 years in a row now, but he is just as bad when it comes to signing a back up LB.
First he brought Dalot, a RB, to be a back up for both LB & RB.
Then he bought Ballo Toure. If this guy can’t step in, give Theo a breather & play vs a bad Sampdoria, then why is he even on the team?
Now they’re saying Dest will be the new Dalot & will back up both LB & RB
Sign a proper LB, you are running Theo into the ground

    1. Menh pioli is not a technical manager….he is a typical Italian coach…he didn’t win the league for us we were very fortunate…his team selection is bad, we shouldn’t have drop points against saossulo…

  5. Kjaer will add some stability to this defense. Hopefully Milan can get a lead in this game and give Leao and Theo a bit of a rest in the second half.
