GdS: Probable XIs for Inter vs. Milan – Leao and Krunic tipped to start

By Oliver Fisher -

Stefano Pioli and Simone Inzaghi will ponder their choices today on the eve of the second leg of the Champions League semi-final derby.

Inter take a two-goal lead into the game after a dominant performance last Wednesday, and the pressure is on Milan to score at least twice if they are to book their place in the final in Istanbul.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (as seen below), Mike Maignan should be in goal with Davide Calabria, Malick Thiaw, Fikayo Tomori and Theo Hernandez the back four, with Simon Kjaer therefore dropping out.

Rade Krunic and Sandro Tonali are expected to be the midfield double pivot, with Brahim Diaz the central attacking midfielder given Ismael Bennacer’s injury.

Rafael Leao is tipped to come back in on the left wing with Alexis Saelemaekers moving back to the right, and Olivier Giroud the centre-forward looking for more derby heroics.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Thiaw, Tomori, Theo Hernandez; Tonali, Krunic; Saelemaekers, Brahim Diaz, Leao; Giroud.

Probable Inter XI (3-5-2): Onana; Darmian, Acerbi, Bastoni; Dumfries, Barella, Brozovic, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Dzeko, Martinez.

  1. Not to be negative but this game is already lost. Playing a Diaz is already us been outnumbered in the middle, so it’s already a loss

    1. Suggest a player to replace Diaz in that position instead of writing pointless comment.
You just don’t wanna Suggest in other not to look stupid because there’s no other better option in that position.

  2. I suggested its not working this formation with Diaz on playmaker given that Inter midfielder more physically strong.

  3. We’re shortage of goals that’s why we oftenly lose. let’s start players who have tendencies of scoring like Messias and pobega to help Giroud. Diaz and Alexis are not capable of scoring .

    1. Nice idea.
But I would say Diaz in that position is still ok my reason is because of his ability to push and start the attack with his fast pace which Pobega lacks.

Then Messias for Saelemaekers is not a bad idea considering their individual stats this season.
But I don’t think Messias is fit yet and he didn’t even train yesterday

      1. Then Pobega too won’t be a bad idea to start reason is because of his sight for goal, his ability to shoot from distance, his shot accuracy and shot power.
Then physically I think he’s more ready than Diaz.

There are differences between them but both of them has their qualities that can add something positive to the game.

  4. I think this game would suit 3421 formation.
Especially given our lack of options.

    Tomori, Thiaw, Kalulu
    Alexis, tonali, krunic, Theo
    Diaz, Leao
    Giroud

It can be a very attacking formation if we play on the front foot. And it utilises the best players available.

If we stick with our usual 4231 then i think its worth playing Pobega in the AM role. Hes strong and hes a goal scorer, which is what we really need. Keep Diaz on the right where he does his best work

  5. You are right my guy. Don’t know why some people just like type rubbish we all know that this team doesn’t have team B
