AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli will be without Theo Hernandez for the trip to face Lazio tonight and as a result will have to adapt his defence.
According to this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Stefano Pioli should line up with Ciprian Tatarusani in goal, Davide Calabria and Sergino Dest (in for the injured Theo) as the right and left-backs respectively, and a centre-back pairing of Pierre Kalulu and Fikayo Tomori.
The midfield double pivot should be composed of Sandro Tonali and Ismael Bennacer, with Brahim Diaz ahead of them as the central attacking midfielder.
Alexis Saelemaekers and Rafael Leao should occupy the right and left wings respectively, with Olivier Giroud once against tipped to lead the line, looking for his first goal of 2023.
Probable Lazio XI (4-3-3): Provedel; Lazzari, Casale, Romagnoli, Marusic; Milinkovic-Savic, Cataldi, Luis Alberto; Pedro, Felipe Anderson, Zaccagni.
Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Tatarusanu; Calabria, Kalulu, Tomori, Dest; Tonali, Bennacer; Saelemaekers, Diaz, Leao; Giroud.
This can’t be serious? No changes after the horrors of late?
Mamma mia! Thet better step up this time. We can’t afford losing any more points now.
Not having Theo is the least of our problems, he was awful since he came back from WC, so not having him in the squad… not that big of a deal.
But not changing the formation or starting 9 or 10 from the last few games… doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results? Yeah, that always ends well.
Or maybe I’m wrong, Pioli is a master motivator and is able to turn things around in less than a week. Well see…
