AC Milan and Inter will face each other in the Derby della Madonninan this evening, with both teams hoping to assert themselves after an average start. Stefano Pioli will make some changes to his starting XI.
Compared to the game against Sassuolo, the Rossoneri will field quite a different XI seeing as they rotated a lot for that game. For instance, Davide Calabria and Pierre Kalulu will be back from start at the back.
The big battle throughout the week has been the right wing. It’s a dilemma for Pioli as whoever comes on from the bench seems to do well, but the one starting can never make a proper impact. Junior Messias will most likely get the nod, though.
Charles De Ketelaere will get the chance from start and as you would expect, Olivier Giroud (the Inter killer) will start up front. Hopefully, the two can find each other on the pitch and link up well this evening.

Pioli should start Saelemaekers over Messias. I know Alexis isn’t popular with the fans, and the reasons why, but he does show more aggressiveness then Messias who is way too soft for Serie A. Against Inter you need to let them feel you’re tough enough and Saelemaekers does have that. I hope one day his crosses and shots on goal improve, but technically he is one of the better players in the team. He’s not as sloppy as Messias and however Junior has better numbers in asssits and goals, he doens’t completely fades during games. Messias is often not seen once in 45 minutes, like if he’s hiding. Saelemaekers doesn’t hide himself. 60 minutes Saelemaekers and then bring in Messias is better than 60 minutes Messias imo.

Diaz is a wimp. He’s failed everywhere, at Man City and Real Madrid. Maybe he’s strong enough to play against women, but he has no place in men’s football.

I don’t agree. Saelemaekers has been very sloppy with the ball. Especially last game. He was horrible. I think he’s better to have on the bench and let him run like hell in the end. Maybe Dest can try that position in the future.

I think we have a different definition of sloppy. Saelemaekers often starts very energetic, but because of this he tends to gas out by the end of the first half. Then he wants to overdo it and makes mistakes. His first 30 minutes against Sassuolo were excellent. Then the last 15 minutes of the first half he comes a step too late and makes the stupid penalty mistake and it all looks terrible again. Leao would never make that mistake because he doesn’t care coming back to defend. Saelemaekers does make these efforts, but he should learn to manage his energy better so he isn’t that clumsy when fatigued. He puts as much pressure as Rebic, but also goes back to defend with Florenzi or Calabria. That takes a lot of energy. Last week he started the second half with new energy and he built up the best counter attack of the entire game. He does often try to overdo things which makes his decissions in the final third often wrong. But he is in no way like Messias, who you have to look after in the first half to see if he’s actually there on the pitch. I think Messias is better coming of the bench when opponents have to make decissions to attack for the win or defend their advantage or a draw. If Messias does start against Inter, I don’t think we will see any action on the right flank. Is Saelemaekers starts, Inter can’t be that sure to leave our right flank open.
Saele. is fine off the bench, looks like Rebic not available, I understand Pioli not wanting to use all his bullits and have bench available but I am firm believer in putting one’s foot on the throat of the opponent from the first whistle, would start Adli at RW versus Junior, I have been convinced to hav CDK at 10 as this gives Leao an assist option when marked by two if he actually sees him
