Due to the absences of Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leao, Stefano Pioli will rely on Christian Pulisic to lead the attack in the upcoming games. For the American, it’s another opportunity to show just how important he is for the team.
Pulisic has been one of the best Milan players at the start of this season, scoring four goals and assisting an additional two. The winner against Genoa comes to mind, but even when he hasn’t scored any points his presence has been noticeable.
As highlighted by today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below), Pulisic will be a key player especially now that Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leao are missing. And Pioli cannot afford to make any mistakes with his selection either, meaning the American should start against both Fiorentina and Dortmund.
Against La Viola, he could play on the left flank to replace Leao, with Noah Okakor starting as the striker. The former Chelsea man has left the injury behind him and he’s not on international duty either, meaning he will have more energy for the restart.
Probable Milan XI vs. Fiorentina (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Florenzi, Thiaw, Tomori, Hernandez; Musah, Reijnders; Chukwueze, Loftus-Cheek, Pulisic; Okafor.
In the upcoming games, in short, Pulisic will play an important role for the Rossoneri. While it may be a makeshift attack, the American will have good company with the likes of Samuel Chukwueze and Okafor.
